Slow Cooker Tikka Masala



This slow cooker tikka masala is a convenient and flavorful way to enjoy this classic Indian dish. Tender chicken simmered in a rich and creamy tomato-based sauce with aromatic spices, it's perfect for a comforting meal any day of the week.

Ingredients:

  • 5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 can 14 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

In a slow cooker, combine chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, heavy cream, tomato paste, garam masala, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper

Stir well to combine

Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or high for 3-4 hours, until chicken is cooked through and flavors are blended

Serve over cooked rice, garnished with fresh cilantro
